The 2023 Communications Contest is now open!

The Connecticut Press Club's annual Communications Contest is ready for your submissions. To enter, follow the directions on the contest site, run by the National Federation of Press Women.

Contest categories include Writing, Editing, Photography, Graphics & Design, Radio & Television, Web & Social Media, Advertising, Communications Programs and Campaigns, Public Relations Materials, Information for the Media, Speeches, and Collegiate/Education. Are you a first time entrant? Here is some helpful information to read.


Early Bird Deadline: January 17, 2024 (noon in your time zone)
A one-time $25 fee will be assessed to all entrants after this date.
Book Final Deadline: January 31, 2024 (noon in your time zone)
Due to the extended time it takes to judge book categories, all book entries must be entered by this date.
Final Deadline: February 7, 2024 (noon in your time zone)
All remaining entries must be entered by this date.

Contest FAQs

Eligibility: Anyone who lives or works in Connecticut is eligible to enter. Entered work must be published from January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2023. 

CT Contest Rules:

  • Entries will be capped at three per entrant in any given category. For example, you can enter up to three different articles in 7D - Specialty Articles - Education.

  • Entrants can submit up to ten entries in total across all categories.

  • Entrants cannot submit the same work in more than one category or subcategory.

  • The contest will be ALL electronic. No hard copy submissions will be accepted and no offline payments will be accepted.


  • CT Press Club members: The fee is $25 for the first entry and $15 for each additional entry.

  • The non-member fee is $30 for the first entry and $20 for each additional entry.

Membership: You can join or renew your membership to the CT Press Club here. You do not have to join the NFPW to enter the local competition.

High School Contest: In addition to the professional competition, the CT Press Club is holding a High School Communications Contest. Entries must be produced by a current high school student or a recently graduated student who produced the work between February 1, 2023, and January 31, 2024. Learn more here.
